My project focuses on the question of why certain molecular factors are highly expressed in healthy melanocytes and benign nevi, but are reduced or absent during malignant transformation. More specifically, we aim to understand whether these factors are associated with growth arrest and maintenance of benign cellular states, and whether their loss contributes to the transition from normal or benign melanocytes toward malignancy.
